Three Clubs score big with Circle K Cash for Clubs
From standing on the sidelines to playing on the pitch, nothing helps build community quite like local sports clubs. Football is an especially fantastic way to foster community, as it teaches the importance of collaboration by the very nature of being a team sport.
However, being part of a grassroots footie club can often leave a large hole in your pocket. Between getting equipment, washing jerseys and maintaining facilities, it quickly becomes an expensive feat.
As title of the FAI Club mark programme, Circle K are supporting grassroots clubs across the country through their latest campaign – Cash for Clubs.
This means that Circle K customers can earn points for their local club, which can result in prizes for their teams. How sick is that!
At the end of each month, the top three football clubs on the Cash For Clubs leaderboard will receive snazzy new football kits from Circle K.
But don't forget, every single point counts right until the end! Even if your club isn’t in the lead, you’re still in with a chance thanks to our random draw for the Grand Finale in March, where several clubs will be randomly selected and have the chance to win pretty epic prizes, including an amazing €10,000 cash prize.
We caught up with Moore United, the club that took home the first-place spot for October with a whopping 683,141 points.
Speaking to JOE on winning the new kit, the Roscommon-based club said, “Winning these kits means a huge amount to everyone at Moore United. We’re a proud community club based in South Roscommon competing in the Roscommon & District League with 13 teams, 11 of them youth sides, so having new kits for our players is a massive boost.”
“It’s a reward for the hard work of our volunteers and a source of pride for the whole community. It also helps us present a professional image as we continue to grow and develop our facilities.”
We also asked them how they managed to rally the club and wider community to ensure they took home the top spot.
“We relied on the strong community spirit that defines Moore United,” they said.
“Our coaches, players, and parents spread the word across WhatsApp groups, local businesses, and social media.”
“The response was incredible,” they noted, saying how “everyone pulled together to vote and show their pride in the club.”
“It really showed the power of local support and what can be achieved when the whole community gets behind a cause.”
When it comes to saying motivated in order to try and win the Grand Prize of
€10,000 they said that they plan to “keep that same spirit and energy going.”
“The buzz from this win has lifted everyone, and we’ll continue promoting the campaign through our matches, online channels, and community events.”
They concluded by saying how “the €10,000 prize would make a real difference to our ongoing development plans, so we’ll be encouraging every supporter, past and present, to get involved once again.”
The two other winning clubs for October were Athy Town FC with 677,257 points and Midleton FC with 677,156 points.
