Amir Khan puts ludicrously expensive gold shorts to good use in incredible act of kindness

To put it bluntly, Amir Khan is not particularly well-liked. The British boxer has not done himself any favours in terms of how he promotes himself, the latest example being the astronomically expensive 24-carat gold thread shorts he wore in the ring. Khan received a lot of backlash for wearing the extravagant pants during his unanimous points victory over American Devon Alexander which helped him retain the WBC silver welterweight title. However, he has completely redeemed himself with his plans for the shorts after the fight. He will donate the gold-thread to the Peshawar school in Pakistan which was struck by tragedy earlier this week when 132 children were killed by Taliban gunmen. Khan said that he hopes the money will be used to rebuild a school and improve security to avert this terrible situation from ever happening again. Khan explained his plans to donate the shorts to the worthy cause in an interview on BBC  radio on Thursday.

It was just very sad to see innocent kids being killed. I can only imagine what the parents are going through. I want to donate the shorts for the Peshawar cause, rebuild a school and strengthen security around the area. We are very lucky in England. We have good security and I will be able to send my little girl to school and know she will be fine but in Pakistan you cannot do that. They send the kids outside the house and do not know if they are going to come back.
