Eddie Hearn has a genuine superfight in mind for Katie Taylor

Eddie Hearn has some huge plans for Katie Taylor.

Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn is already looking past Katie Taylor's next fight. As her promoter, that's his job. Taylor successfully defended her IBF and WBA lightweight world titles in London's 02 Arena on Saturday night. The Pride of Bray scored a third-round stoppage against Kimberley Connor to improve to 10-0. Up next for Taylor is former WBO featherweight queen Cindy Serrano in Chicago on October 6. After that, she isn't short of potential match-ups. Cindy's sister Amanda, Barry McGuigan managed Chantelle Cameron and fellow former Olympian Mikaela Mayer have all stated their desire to fight Taylor. Boxers-turned-MMA fighters Heather Hardy and Holly Holm have also been linked with taking on Taylor inside the ring. Passing of the torch?

The aforementioned fights are all big in their own right, but none of them could be described as a 'superfight'. Hearn has one of those in mind though, as he told talkSPORT. Hearn told the radio station that he is eyeing up a catchweight contest between Katie Taylor and unified welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus. He believes that the only way to test Taylor is to have her fight in unnatural weight divisions. Braekhus would certainly provide a tough test for the Irish star. Braekhus is four years Taylor's senior at 36. The Colombian-born welterweight who fights out of Norway became the first woman in any weight class to hold the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF titles simultaneously. She is only the fifth boxer ever to complete this feat alongside Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Terence Crawford and Oleksandr Usyk.  She holds a staggering 34-0 record, with nine of those victories coming by way of knockout. On May 5, Braekhus also became the first female fighter to feature on a HBO broadcast. She comprehensively beat American Kali Reis via unanimous decision on that occasion. According to reports, Braekhus' next bout will be on the undercard of the highly-anticipated rematch between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez on September 15 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
