After arriving back at Dublin Airport, Brian Peters told reporters that Persoon would get a rematch but not immediately. The Belgian is fuming over this, and the proposed rematch timeline. She says:
"I have seen the fight 30 times. You feel on the spot that you have been robbed, but you still want to be sure that it is true. It was clear of course. We have been robbed. I have certainly won six out of 10 rounds. Katie Taylor has won three. A round is undecided." "We are already hearing that there will be no rematch before the summer of 2020," Persoon adds. "I do not want to stop this way. The WBC boxing association is the only association that wants to look into the matter. The WBC may want to demand a rematch via a challenge. The battle is not yet over."Taylor was over in the UK for some promotional work, this week, and told talkSPORT that talk of her win over the Belgian being a robbery was ridiculous. "I’m very happy to give her a rematch whenever she wants it really," said Taylor. "I don’t think it’s gonna happen in the next fight, but the rematch is gonna be inevitable." Inevitable, but Persoon may have to wait a year and win another couple of fights while she is put on the long finger.
