Boxer arrested after alleged attempted sexual assault inside the Olympic Village

A Moroccan boxer, scheduled to compete at Rio 2016, has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

Hassan Saada was arrested by police on Friday morning after two female workers at the Olympic Village in Barra de Tijucaas, accused the 22-year-old of attempting to sexually assault them, according to a report from the AP. The light heavyweight was slated to face Turkey's Mehmet Nadir in his Olympic opener but will play no part in the Games after police confirmed that he will be jailed for 15 days as they investigate the allegations made against him. A report in the Daily Mail states that the women claimed that Saada had offered to take a selfie with one of the women, a chambermaid in the Olympic village, before pushing her up against a wall and trying to kiss her. It is also claimed that he groped the other woman's breasts and offered to pay her to perform a sexual act on him. Saada was taken to a police station close to the Olympic Stadium but is set to be transferred to a remand prison in the Polinter area of Rio de Janeiro for further investigation.
