‘Unresponsive for 24 hours’ , Muhammad Ali is rushed to hospital

'The Greatest' was transported to hospital near his Arizona home, last night, after he was found to be unresponsive for 24 hours

Muhammad Ali is being treated in hospital today for a severe urinary tract infection. Family members of the former three-time heavyweight boxing world champion were reportedly unable to wake him after he had slept for 24 hours. 'There were further issues with the earlier diagnosis of a urinary tract infection,' Ali Family spokesman Bob Gunnell has told Press Association. Ali, who turns 73 on Saturday, was brought to hospital but is expected to be released later today. It is the second time in four weeks that he has been admitted to hospital. Ali is fondly remembered for his effervescent character as much as his boxing skills. He took part in two of the 1970s biggest heavyweight bouts - Rumble in the Jungle and Thrilla' in Manilla. He retired from the sport in 1981 and was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984.
