Several reports claim that Arsenal would prefer to part ways with the Welsh midfielder for a cut-price fee in January rather than lose him for free next summer. Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan are all interested.
It certainly appears like there is no chance of Ramsey and Arsenal coming to an agreement judging by the tweets from the player's agency, Avid Sports & Entertainment Group.
The tweets, which came in a back-and-forth with a disgruntled Arsenal fan, have since been deleted. But they seem to confirm that Ramsey was eager to stay before the club walked away from discussions.
"Now there is no other option," the most damning response read.
After Unai Emery arrived at the Emirates in the summer, he picked Ramsey as one of several captains of his new side.
And while both parties initially seemed close to agreeing to a four-year deal, that's no longer the case. But Emery doesn't believe that the uncertainty over Ramsey's future will hinder his performances in the coming months.
"I don’t think the situation will affect his performances," Emery said last Friday. "I just want to give him and the players the most stability so that they can be focused only on the games. I spoke about this situation in the pre-season and now it is the same.
"I have known and I’m going to know this same situation again because the football career for a player is very short. They are professionals for 10, 12 or 15 years but not more and they need to take the best performance and also work very hard in these years for their future and their family’s future."JOE’s World Cup Predictor – Win €1,000 every day in our FREE game
