Alex Ferguson has ensured that the family of legendary Manchester United manager Matt Busby retain their long-standing privileges at Old Trafford, according to reports.
Jim Ratcliffe, Britain's richest man, bought a 25% stake in the Red Devils earlier this year, and his INEOS group have been on a cost-cutting spree.
The club have cut one-quarter of its workforce and cancelled the annual Christmas party. There are also reports that they were looking at potentially cutting funding by 50% to the club's disabled supporter's association.
Meanwhile, Ferguson's contract as club ambassador worth £2.1m a year, has also been cut and will conclude at the end of this season.
According to The Daily Mail, Matt Busby's family have had their complimentary season tickets relocated from the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand, and they lost their hospitality table.
Ferguson, however, intervened and spoke with United CEO Omar Berrada and COO Collette Roche to restore the family's access to the director's bar and assure them they were still welcome at the stadium.
Busby's family were said to be concerned over a lack of communication regarding the changes.
According to The Daily Mail, Man United had 'no intention' to withdraw the privileges.
“There are two things you don’t touch at United: Fergie and the Busbys,” an 'insider' told the report.
Busby is a Man United legend who built the club to become league champions in the 1950s and rebuilt the club following the Munich Air disaster.
The Scot, who passed away in 1994, led United to their first European Cup win in 1968.
