In an interview with a Chilevision TV reporter, broadcast on Wednesday, he revealed he would be fulfilling the dream of his family if he went on to play for Universidad de Chile.
Sanchez explains that Jose Delaigue, the man he regards as his father, was a supporter of the Santiago-based club. Despite representing their rivals Colo Colo earlier in his career, the United number seven clearly sees no issue with him moving to 'La U' at some point in the future.
"My father who is now in Heaven was a supporter of La U," he explains. "I think the truth is that a lot of my family would like me to end up there.
"My dad was the pillar of the family and sometimes people do things for their family. "I played for Colo Colo and the truth is that it was great and I won a lot of things with them, but I think people are going to understand it because it's a dream my dad had. God willing I am going to fulfil it."Sanchez' comments appear to have been well received by Universidad de Chile - or at least whoever is responsible for running their official Twitter account... https://twitter.com/udechile/status/974089313406373888
