A new pair of limited edition Adidas trainers will appeal to fans of one football club after the sportswear giant announced its latest ‘Spezial’ teams.
Adidas has chosen Celtic as one of this season’s teams that get their own range of Spezial-inspired clothes and a unique pair of trainers that will be a must-have for fans of the famous Glasgow side.
The new Celtic SPZL Adidas trainers are green suede with the famous three stripes in white. The trainers include the club’s name and badge on the tongue, as well as the iconic SPZL design including the chunky gum sole.
Priced at £110, the limited edition trainers have gone on sale today, and if previous launches are anything to go by they will sell out quickly. Last year similar launches for Leeds and Nottingham Forest sold out in minutes.
The trainers will not be the only option in the Celtic Spezial range launching today. Adidas is also selling jackets, hoodies and t-shirts but they do not come cheap.
A ‘smock’ featuring the Adidas Spezial logo is priced at an eye-watering €265 for fans in Ireland, while a t-shirt is priced at €65.
The Spezial range is the latest Adidas and Celtic collaboration. The brand has also launched a Terrace Icons range featuring a retro-design on tracksuits and jackets. The dark green Terrace Icons tracksuit jacket features lighter green stripes down the sleeves, an Adidas Trefoil logo and a retro-inspired embroidered Celtic badge.
The Terrace Icon range is inspired by 1980s design and is usually reserved for Adidas ‘Elite’ clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Liverpool, who have all been offered Terrace Icon ranges by the brand.
Adidas and Celtic have a long history and last year the sportswear brand signed an unprecedented deal to supply kits and merchandise to the Scottish champions for a decade in one of the most lucrative deals in the club’s history.
