Ronaldo tried to leave the club in the summer but was unable to secure a move away after no side came in with an acceptable enough offer to convince United to sell.
However, The Athletic are reporting that members of the club's hierarchy are now willing to let Ronaldo leave United due to his fractured relationship with Ten Hag and that the pair will hold talks with each other on Monday to decide what is best for all parties.
United are said to be willing to offload Ronaldo for free, providing that they can find someone who is willing to pay his £360,000-a-week wages.
Ten Hag will reportedly offer Ronaldo the chance to return to the first team, where he will be rotated and not a guaranteed starter.
If the Portugal captain rejects this arrangement, United are reportedly be prepared to let him leave.

Further reports have suggested that Chelsea may go back in for Ronaldo after co-owner Todd Boehly tried to persuade former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel to sign the forward, but the German opted against the decision.
Boehly is friends with Ronaldo's agent - Jorge Mendes - and could make another attempt to sign him again, but will once again need to speak to the club's new manager, Graham Potter.
