Graeme Souness brings Liverpool fans back down to earth with prediction for May

Graeme Souness will never get carried away.

And he'll do his best not to let anybody else get carried away either. Master of the dead-pan dig, Souness seems to relish cutting hyped-up folk back down to size. Liverpool fans are fairly hyped up at the moment. They've started the season like scalded cats, only losing one game so far. Last year's Achilles heel, their leaky and shaky defence looks to have finally shored up while their midfield are beginning to control games now. Milner and Henderson are on form, and Fabinho's impressive performance on Wednesday night only added more fuel to the already blazing fire. Firmino, Mane and Salah are all having their time and with Shaqiri chomping at their heels, it seems like the perfect cocktail at Liverpool. Renowned for getting carried away, the Merseysiders seem to have more reason than ever now and they finally do feel that this will be their year to bridge a 28 year gap and become League champions. But Graeme Souness still feels this team won't win the Premier League.

"I'm not sure, I'd love to say yes to that (that Liverpool will win the League, but I think City still have the edge on them...I think City are still the favourites to win the League..." "I just look at that midfield three, De Bruyne, Fernandinho and the way Silva's playing - arguably that mix there would be the best in the world in midfield," he said. "They've a tremendous strike-force, but I still think that three in midfield are scorers and creators - they might be the difference in May."

The teams drew when they met at Anfield two weeks ago though Liverpool have come through tougher fixtures to date, having been tested by Chelsea and Tottenham. City on the other hand have had easier fixtures, with Arsenal the only other top eight side they have faced to date. The Premier League promises to be a fascinating, ding-dong battle this year, because Chelsea shouldn't be ruled out of the race just yet either.
