Police investigating incident between Joey Barton and Barnsley manager

Sky Sports have reported that police are investigating the incident

Joey Barton was involved in an altercation with Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel after Fleetwood's 4-2 loss to the Yorkshire club on Saturday afternoon. Sky Sports are reporting that police are investigating Barton after the Fleetwood manager allegedly "assaulted" his opposite number. The Yorkshire Post claim the incident took place in the tunnel while the managers were making their way back to the dressing rooms after some pitchside agro at the end of the six-goal thriller. A statement from Bansley reads:

'The club can confirm there was an alleged incident in the tunnel area that took place following the conclusion of today’s match, which South Yorkshire police are currently investigating. 'The club is assisting the police with its enquiries and, as a result, we are not in a position to make any further comment at this time.'
