A Juventus star caused mass hysteria after fans noticed his Facebook profile picture had been changed to him wearing a Manchester United shirt.
Weston McKennie appeared to initially drop a hint that he would be on the move this summer when his profile featured him in the colours of United only for it to be deleted minutes later.
Despite that, the picture did the rounds but McKennie was quick to play down any links of a move to Old Trafford, insisting that he was hacked and that a similar attempt to do the same to his Instagram was made, but he had stopped that from happening.
His profile picture is now back to normal.
The USMNT international joined Juventus from Schalke in 2020 for €25m and last season had a brief six-month spell in the Premier League on loan to Leeds United.
His contract at the Old Lady expires in 2025 but he has no desire to leave the club where he has featured 35 times in all competitions this season.
United meanwhile are preparing for a summer of change as Sir Jim Ratcliffe prepares to overhaul the playing squad.
Reports earlier this week suggested that nearly all of the first team squad would be made available for transfer only for Erik ten Hag to deny these claims, stating that it was a "joke" that such rumours had been made.
