Qatar ‘wants Kylian Mbappe to join Man United’ after takeover, according to reports

The Qatari-led bid is aiming to take over at Man United.

Qatar wants Kylian Mbappe to join Manchester United from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in Spain. Sheikh Jassim, the head of the Qatar Islamic Bank, is aiming to complete a full takeover of the Red Devils. Mbappe could be on the move to the English club should Sheikh Jassim buy Man United from the Glazer family, according to a sensational report in Spain.

Mbappe is under contract with PSG until 2024 but stated earlier this week that he would not extend his stay at PSG beyond next season. This means that the club could lose him for nothing next summer. The France captain, however, has since said he wants to remain with the club for next season. Yet, according to Diego Torres of El País newspaper, Mbappe was told back in February by intermediaries that, should the Qatari-led takeover of Man United go ahead, they would be keen on him joining the Premier League side. Mbappe, 24, is said to have given no clear indication that he would be open to the move. "The French striker did not commit to anything, but he stated that the idea seemed interesting to him," writes Torres. Mbappe has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and has, in the past, stated his desire to play for the famous Spanish club. If the French forward leaves PSG this summer, a move to Madrid appears to be the most likely outcome. Meanwhile, according to reports on Friday, a new owner of Man United is unlikely to be in place before the start of the new season. Jim Ratcliffe, Britain's richest man, is the other contender to buy the club from the Glazers.
