Manchester City recorded a resounding 5-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, in a game that seemed to hinge on one moment. Liverpool had the better of the early play, posing City's rickety back-three problems with their pace, and it looked like only a matter of time before Sadio Mane or Mo Salah exploited a mistake by Nicolas Otamendi. City then took the lead, with Sergio Aguero finishing after a brilliant through ball by Kevin de Bruyne, before the game was effectively ended as a contest. Mane chased after a ball over the top, and City goalkeeper Ederson came out of his penalty area. The 'keeper got there first, heading the ball clear, and Mane collided with him. The referee gave the Liverpool winger a straight red card and the decision caused a lot of debate on social media. From that point on, the result was a foregone conclusion. City scored again before half-time and another three times before full-time. The behaviour of some City fans had a lot of people talking on social media. Some of those in the Etihad got on the wrong side of the watching public with their chants and attitude towards a former player. First there was a tired old chant about Steven Gerrard. You might not have heard, but the former Liverpool captain slipped in a game against Chelsea when the team were closing in on their first league title in 24 years, after previously telling his teammates that their position at the top of the table "does not slip." Liverpool lost the game and missed out on the league title to City on goal difference. Milner left the club in search of more first-team opportunities at Liverpool, and has never had a bad word to say about City.
