Michael Carrick handed new deal at Manchester United

He's only been in his new job for a couple of weeks, but Jose Mourinho has been hard at work.

Having reportedly splurged over £30m (work permit permitting) on a new defender many of us had never heard of, United's new boss has now signed Michael Carrick up for another year. Following United's 2-1 FA Cup Final win over Crystal Palace last month, many had suggested that Carrick, whose previous contract with the club expired this summer, was set to leave Old Trafford.
