In his latest column, outspoken pundit Eamon Dunphy has eviscerated Roy Keane.
Dunphy, a former youth player at Man United and Ireland international, did not hold back in his assessment of the Ireland and Man United legend, after the pundit's comments on new Brentford boss Keith Andrews.
Andrews, who has worked as an assistant with Ireland, has taken over as manager of Brentford after Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham Hotspur, with the Bees losing 3-1 to Nottingham Forest in his first Premier League game in charge last weekend.
Ahead of that match, Keane said: "He does talk a good game, he always has.
"He just needs to back it up now. Again, it’s a good game for him today, going to Forest. I think they have a good record there; they’ll always be strong in terms of set pieces.
"Yeah, I think it will be a tough start, but what an opportunity. He’s got to embrace it and, listen, let’s see how he gets on."
Andrews had previously criticised Keane for his his role as Ireland assistant coach, with Keane then responding when Andrews was in a similar role.
The Corkman said: "If I can make one point about the new Irish staff. I've heard a lot of bullshitters over the last 10 years, and Keith Andrews is up there with the best of them."
In his piece for the Mirror, Dunphy wrote: "Keane made another snide remark last weekend ahead of Brentford’s opening game against Nottingham Forest.
"Andrews was someone ‘who talks a good game’, he said, the implication being that he does not, in effect, speak with consideration.
"Well, that’s where Keith differs from Roy Keane.
"Because it is Keane who is a bullshitter.
"What’s more, he is a bully."
Dunphy famously defended Keane in one of Ireland's most iconic TV moments, when he called out journalist Rod Liddle for "leaving his wife for a young one", but has since been critical of the former midfielder.
In the past he has said: "Look at what he has become, a caricature of himself, doing television ads which play on his intimidating nature, one where he frightens a window cleaner, another where he is rude to a barista."
Notably, during Euro 2024, he said: "The fact remains that Keane is a poor analyst. His knowledge of the game is thin...
"Now, in his second career in a television studio, he will slag off anyone.
"You might think, ‘well, that’s great’. Except his credibility can be questioned by some of his statements..."
