Roy Keane slams Man United star over mentality and says he should “get another job”

The United winger did not celebrate his goal against Leicester at the weekend following criticism from fans.

The former Red Devils captain said that if the youngster can't handle harsh words from fans he should "get a job somewhere else."

Garnacho's reaction - or lack thereof - was due to criticism from fans with a video circulating online before United's Europa League clash with PAOK.

In the clip, a fan told Garnacho to "pass better" and "work on his first touch" to which the 20-year-old replied, "Why are you not playing bro?"

Man United captain Bruno Fernandes confirmed why the youngster didn't celebrate in his post-match interview, saying:

“He didn't celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans.

“I told him people will always moan but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do. I told him to celebrate, it was something special.”

Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, Keane added to Fernandes' words, saying that the Argentine should block out what others say.

He said: “If you can’t celebrate a goal, there is something drastically wrong with this game.

“Whatever has gone on off the pitch for any player – it could be family stuff – you work all week, you’re playing the game to score a goal.

“When you score a goal, there should be nothing else on your mind.

"You’ve got fans who have travelled, paid fortunes to get there, and he’s on about people having a go at him.

“No criticism should affect you celebrating a goal. They are playing a game to score goals.

“People make sacrifices to travel to watch Manchester United, he scores a brilliant goal, United are having a tough time and if a younger player can’t enjoy scoring a goal for Man United you know what he should do? Go and get a job somewhere else.

“If he was working in a factory, someone will give him stick. It happens wherever you work.

“You want players to celebrate. A fan had a go at him? Don’t listen to that idiot. There are f***ing idiots everywhere. If he is going to be upset by that, get another job."

Keane reacts to van Nistelrooy leaving Manchester United

United are out of action this weekend due to the international break but return on November 24 to face Ipswich Town in what will be Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of the club.

The Portuguese manager's arrival will mean that interim head coach and ex-United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will leave the club. Keane said that he is not surprised that the Dutchman has not been kept on.

He said: "I told you a few weeks ago, you don’t listen to me! He was never going to stay, of course, he wasn’t.

"He handled himself well but with a new manager coming in and especially with Ruud saying, ‘I’m going to stay and help the club,’.

"Amorim has got 26 of his own staff coming in. You don’t need Ruud who’s been a part of the previous management."
