Republic of Ireland Tom Cannon has said he is looking to convince his Leicester City teammate, Kasey McAteer, to declare for the Boys in Green following his international debut.
The 21-year-old togged out for the first time in an Ireland shirt on Tuesday night against Portugal in Aveiro as a second-half substitute.
Despite the 3-0 loss to Ronaldo and co, Cannon was one of the brighter sparks during the game, coming close with one of Ireland's best chances on the night but hitting the side netting.
After the match, the striker said it was a "proud day" for him and revealed his brothers, girlfriend and mates were all in attendance to see his first cap.
Speaking after the disappointing result, Cannon said: "It was bittersweet, it was a proud day for me and my family to make my debut and it was a nice feeling.
"The result was tough but they are a good side, a top team, one of the favourites for the Euros so we learn from it, regroup and go again."
Cannon also spoke about his Leicester teammate McAateer, who, despite not appearing for Ireland at any level, is understood to have switched allegiances from England recently.
"I will be having words with him when I get back,’ Cannon said of his 22-year-old teammate.
"I spoke to him during this camp, he had a tough season with injuries, did his hamstring a couple of times so it was important he just rested up to be ready to go next season."
The winger enjoyed his breakthrough season at the Foxes last season, making 23 appearances for the club and scoring six goals.
His successful season, despite numerous injuries, has also reportedly attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.
