That means that Van Gaal could well make the left side of his defence a priority when the transfer window reopens as the time-frame for Shaw's return is four to six months, closer to the latter in all likelihood. The Star report that Leeds full back Charlie Taylor could be on his way to Old Trafford sooner than anticipated as LVG looks to shore up his defence while Shaw recovers. It's understood that Manchester United have continued to send scouts to monitor the 21-year-old who was expected to make the transfer next summer. But Shaw's lengthy spell on the sidelines after surgery has forced Van Gaal to get the move into motion in the January transfer window and a bid of around €5.5million is expected.
