Maybe there are some Portsmouth or Southampton fans who don't like the fact he ping-ponged around the South Coast of England during a 180year career that has taken in 9 clubs, 42 international caps and a lifetime of being bought and sold by Harry Redknapp. But for the most part people like the perma-smiling, long-limbed striker who has scored over 200 goals for club and country. Last night the 35-year-old hit his first hat-trick in three years as Stoke thumped Stevenage 4-0 in the EFL Cup. Including this absolute gem.

Then after the game, when he had claimed his prize of the matchball, Crouchy handed it over to a child among the Stoke travelling support.

A nice touch no doubt from one of these multi-millionaire footballers who we have been hearing need to learn more from Olympians. Alternatively, you could argue that a 35-year-old who has played for close to two decades at the top of the game has little or no interest in bringing a League Cup football from Stevenage into his gaff.
