We applied to be the new Belgium manager, and we’re pretty confident we’ll get it

Job applications can be stressful.

You go to the trouble of perfecting your CV, writing the perfect covering letter and nailing the interview, only to find out they've given the gig to someone else. We're sure there will be plenty of very able candidates finding themselves in just that predicament when the Belgian FA decide on Marc Wilmots's successor in charge of the national team. Wilmots was relieved of his duties after the Euro 2016 exit at the hands of Wales, and came in for criticism from fans (and his players, from what we're led to believe) during the tournament. Luckily for us, they have opened applications up to everyone on their website. And when we say everyone, we mean the world's best managers, some up-and-coming local talents, and us. Once we got an email address, we knew we had to apply. But what was the best way to stand out from the crowd? What could we offer that Wilmots couldn't? After hours of deliberation, we cracked it. Unlike the former boss, we have a basic grasp of what a full-back is. Wilmots spent much of his time using the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Thomas Vermaelen and Lauent Ciman either side of his two central defenders.
