But of course, that was *never* going to happen, was it?
Like Aston Villa, Newcastle will also be playing Championship football next season following their relegation in midweek and the idea of them stopping a side that had only recently been embroiled in a title race seemed highly unlikely.
But Spurs *did* lose. And not only did they leave Tyneside empty-handed, they received an absolute pasting by Rafa Benitez's men, ending the day on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline.
