Tipperary's All-Ireland defence went with a whimper last night after they were dealt a five-goal defeat in Limerick.
This defeat leaves Tipp without a championship win for the fourth time since the round-robin system was inaugurated in 2018.
Post match, Liam Cahill leapt to defend his players after criticism from "nameless" online supporters.
He said: "We all have to be really mindful that these players are amateur players.
"They're getting a fair bit of criticism by a lot of platforms, especially nameless ones which are easy to hide behind.
"Even some nameless platforms that use the Tipperary logo and use titles like 'Premier’ this and ‘Tipperary’ that. Really, they're not Tipperary people. They're a joke, actually.
"I'm really disappointed that our so-called own would revert to that kind of scrutiny of players that put their hand up to play for Tipperary.
"I'd really love to know these people behind these faceless accounts. Have they child welfare courses done? Garda vetting done?
"Are they training under-10s and under-8s in their own clubs? Are they even club members? They're probably not."
Supporters on social media have given their reaction to the 48-year-old's frustration.
One X user defending the coach saying: "He is talking a lot of sense. He has been through it himself and the transition isn’t easy."
On the contrary, another user said: "That's a non-cognitive, delusional, clueless comment by Cahill, time to go.."
It seems one particular outlet has taken issue with Cahill's comments.
The Premier View, a Tipperary GAA podcast, has suggested that Cahill and the county board have asked to remove content in the past, after it was suggested that the manager's comments were aimed at them.
They wrote: "If that’s aimed at us, Liam.
"Both you and County Board officers have rang and messaged us in relation to stuff that’s been posted and wanted taken down.
"Whether that was team news that we came out with too soon, match tactics that we worked out ourselves and you didn’t then want disclosed or comments posted on any of our socials by members of the public.
"Which we have always complied with."

Cork boss not pleased with ‘hypocritical’ ref behaviour from Limerick manager
A bit of needle…. There was a bit of needle between Cork boss Ben O’Connor and Limerick gaffer John Kiely after today’s Munster final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. O’Connor was clearly not pleased with some of the behaviour from Kiely, and perhaps some decisions from the officials. And the Rebels manager did admit that things […]

Limerick star makes controversial statement of intent after Munster final win
A big statement! Following their Munster SHC final win over Cork, the Limerick players celebrated passionately on the pitch at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. You could tell the win meant more than usual, after losing to the Rebels in last year’s final and in the round-robin stage this season. One Treaty player, however, went above and […]
