Sound the trumpets, there is a new dog in the Major-winning yard

Your 2015 US Masters champion, Jordan Spieth.

The 21-year-old Texan has led this tournament from wire-to-wire and claimed his first ever Major with a bogey putt on Augusta National's 18th green. His round of 70 saw him finish on a record-equalling -18. Spieth betrayed no signs of nerves as he began Masters Sunday with two birdies in his first four holes. Justin Rose and Phil Mickelson started strongly too and when Spieth gave shots back at five and seven, onlookers sensed a tense finalé. Three shots, however, was as close as any of the challengers would get. Spieth birdied the eighth hole and never looked back. Another birdie, on 10, saw him record his record-breaking 26th of the tournament. By the time he dropped birdie number 27, on the 13th, he was five clear. There was some late fight, from Rose and, in spectacular fashion, Mickelson: The Englishman and American reached -14 but Spieth was unperturbed. He answered with a birdie of his own at 15 to hit -19. It was another Master's record - the best score ever reached on the historied Augusta course.  A clutch par save on 16 impressed the hell out of Shane Lowry.

Spieth went close again, on 17, and bogeyed the last to finish on -18 and claim his first try of one of those swish, green blazers. Rose and Mickelson tied for second while Rory McIlroy was fourth, on -12. All the practice, from the age of four onward, paid off...
