Rory McIlroy has given his reaction after he had a disappointing four days at the Masters.
The Northern Irishman's wait for a a first ever Green Jacket - and a first major since 2014 - goes on after he finished four over.
This was despite him starting the tournament with his first under par round at the Masters since 2018.
But that was as good as it got for the 34-year-old, who's hopes of completing the career grand slam of winning all four majors were torpedoed by a five over round of 77 on the second day.
In the end, he finished 15 shots behind world number one and winner Scottie Scheffler.
Speaking after his final round of a one over 73 on Sunday, McIlroy struggled to find the words to sum up his miserable performance, GolfMagic reports.
"I don't really know what to say," he admitted.
"Just sort of felt like my game was okay and managed it pretty well, but obviously Friday was a really tough day, and losing five shots sort of put me in a pretty difficult position going into the weekend."
When asked about how he would sum up his disappointing weekend, he continued: "I guess it's more the same of what I've shown this year.
"It's not as if it's been a down week in comparison to the way I've been playing.
"It's just a matter of me trying to get my game in a bit better shape going towards the rest of the season."
McIlroy's last win major win came in 2014, but he won't have long to wait to try and end his 10-year drought.
The PGA Championship starts on May 16, with this also being the last major McIlroy won.
Asked about how he would be preparing for this, he replied: "I need to take a little bit of time and reflect on this week and what I did well, what I didn't do so well, and sort of try to make a plan for the next few months, especially from here going through obviously the end of July.
"As you say, major season, they're going to come thick and fast here, so hopefully get myself in a bit better form for those last three."
