Johnson discovered he had lost his yardage book, early in his round, and was fortunate that his brother was present at the course and had a spare one. He also overcame a double bogey on the ninth hole to card an impressive -5 round.
'DJ' has one US Open win to his name and many other close calls in Majors. He told reporters:
"All I can do is go out [on Sunday] and play my game and shoot the best number I can. I'm going to just try and go out and shoot as low as I can tomorrow just like I did today. You know, just take what the golf course gives me and just keep on going because, you know, it doesn't really matter what other guys are doing. All I can control is myself."The Irish challenge faded on 'moving day' as neither Rory McIlroy or Shane Lowry did much moving. Lowry shot a 69 in a round that included a double bogey 'six' on the fourth, while McIlroy went from the sublime to the haphazard in his Even par round of 70.
