Rory McIlroy reveals unique motivational trick behind his four Major wins

Rory McIlroy's winter break is over and he is over in Abu Dhabi preparing for a Grand Slam run. The world number one captured two Majors in 2014 and claimed every end-of-year award going, including USPGA Golfer of the Year and Race to Dubai. Last year saw a reversal in golfing fortunes following a 2013 (one win at the Australian Open) to forget. However, he refocused his energies and committed more time to practice and reaped the rewards. He claimed The Open, last summer, and followed it up with a WGC Bridgestone win and a USPGA championship. McIlroy, today, revealed the motivational trick that has driven him to success in recent years. Each year, McIlroy jots his goals on the back of a boarding pass from the first flight he takes. 'I then stick the pass in my wallet and keep it with me for the year... I don't look at it again until the end of the year,' he said. McIlroy says he first made the boarding pass list of goals in his first year as a professional, 2007. It is a practice he has continued ever since. When McIlroy refused to divulge his 2015 goals on the back of his boarding pass, a reporter joked that the front must read 'Seat 1A'. The golfer remarked, 'Yeah! I started off around 14B.' McIlroy confessed he had actually written 'six worldwide wins' and 'more Majors' on the back of his 2014 boarding pass.
