Fantasy horse racing is here as Dublin Racing Festival provides the light we need

Do you know your horses? Do you know more than your mates know about horses?

The lockdown has been tough, January has been a slog. But thankfully, there is light at the end of the tunnel - light in the form of the 2021 Dublin Racing Festival weekend in Leopardstown. On February 6 and 7, some of the game's finest horses will come head to head under the best jockeys and for the best trainers in the Foxrock showpiece. You will see chasers like Melon and Delta Work and you will see hurdlers like Honeysuckle and Sharjah. What more could you want? Well, we won't say no to the Leopardstown Lockdown League which gives the meeting that extra bit of competitive spice. The Lockdown League is a racing fantasy league that runs for each Leopardstown meeting in 2021. There will, however, be a special, separate edition running for the Dublin Racing Festival with the grand prize of a VIP day for four for the 2022 festival. The VIP day includes:

• Premium Level Access
• Pavillion Hospitality for 4
• Trip/Tour of the parade ring, pre-parade ring, and other facilities ahead of racing (subject to availability and restrictions)

So how does the Lockdown League work? Contestants select one horse in each of the card's races and send their choices onto marketing@leopardstown.com, with points on offer for placings. Each first-place finish will get ten points with second-place finishers earning seven points and third-place finishers earning five. There will be three points for fourth place finishers in races that have more than eight runners. You can register your details here. May the best tipster win! On top of this, the lockdown league will be an overall prize for the table-topper at the end of the series as well as daily prizes at the end of each meeting. These prizes will mainly consist Leopardstown merchandise while the main prize is Leopardstown membership for 2022 as well as hospitality for 2 at a race day of the winner's choice. Considering that entry into the league is free, it's not a bad prize for picking a few horses. Leopardstown RC wants sports fans to watch the racing action on RTE, to download their digital racecard, and to take part in the regular competitions which will be run across their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages (@LeopardstownRC) over the two days.
