Liverpool legend John Barnes MBE talks Cheltenham and FA Cup in Jockeys and Jackpots episode three

This week sees presenter Dave Orton once again welcome Kilkenny trainer John 'Shark' Hanlon as our racing expert, alongside our celebrity guest John Barnes.

Liverpool and England legend Barnes was one of the finest wingers of his generation, winning multiple league and FA Cup titles, and the PFA Player of the Year award in 1988.

Cheltenham has begun

The world-famous Cheltenham Festival is now underway, and naturally is a running theme throughout the episode.

'Shark' has trained Gold Cup horses before, and there is no better man to be giving away tips and insights into the jockeys and trainers to back this week.

Barnesy shares the story of Liverpool's infamous white suits at the 1996 FA Cup final, which they lost to fierce-rivals Man United.

He also gives fashion advice for the Aintree Grand National, and reveals the challenge of trying to make it up to the iconic race every year, straight after league games with the Reds.

Gold Cup picks

In our 'Choose Wisely' section, both Barnes and Hanlon have gone for Willie Mullins' Galopin des Champs to make it a third win in a row in the Festival's marquee race.
