The third day in and we get off to a blink and you miss it start where the fastest two-year-old thoroughbreds in the world blister up the five furlong straight.
Wesley Ward's Red Lodge, the only filly in the field, who broke the track record back in Belmont in America has to be respected after what his Lady Aurelia did yesterday and last year's winning trainer Aiden O'Brien has Peace Envoy, but I'm not sure if he'll have enough pace.
I really liked the look of Silver Line on his solo run, where he showed bags of acceleration and a likeable attitude. For me, they're the crucial ingredients in a race like this so I'm happy with him.
Elsewhere on the card there's a horse with not such a likeable attitude in Pallasator in the Gold Cup at 4.20pm. He's very talented and entertaining to watch as he makes his way to the starting stalls.
He seems to like to do a fandango to get him in form for winning. He's up against it today though with Melbourne Cup second and the very impressive Order Of St George.
The latter has blown away his rivals on his last few runs and although unproven over this long distance, I expect he'll do the same today.
Even Song got no luck in running last time but should improve today against her female rivals in the Ribbonsdale Stakes at 3.40pm and I expect Blue De Vega to give us an Irish win in the proceeding race, the Tercentenary Stakes at 3.05pm. In the hands of Kieren Fallon he has the best form in the book, but dangers from less exposed opposition in Abdon and Mulk could be a worry.
Happy punting!
