Conor McGregor charged with assault in New York

Conor McGregor has been charged with assault and criminal mischief following his antics at the UFC 223 media day.

The Crumlin native and his 30 strong entourage went nuts in the Barclays Centre on Thursday evening. They gained unauthorised access to the backstage area of the Brooklyn arena and made their presence felt upon arrival. It is believed that his outburst was directed at rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, who will fight for the lightweight belt against Max Holloway on Saturday evening. The Russian fighter was involved in a bust up with McGregor's training partner Artem Lobov recently and that was believed to have riled the Dubliner.
