Conor McGregor won’t be allowed contact with two UFC stars until July 2020

Conor McGregor's legal team entered a guilty plea on his behalf during his court appearance today. The Dubliner made the plea with regard to disorderly conduct after he was charged with criminal mischief, misdemeanor assault and menacing and reckless endangerment after the bus attack at the Barclays Center, in April, ahead of UFC 223. In return, he was sentenced to five days community service, must pay damages and attend anger management classes.  Crucially, he will not have any criminal offences included on his record so travelling to, and fighting in, the United States will not be an issue. This means that, once the community service aspect of the sentence has been satisfied, the MMA star will be able to resume a career with the UFC that has stalled since he became featherweight and lightweight champion at Madison Square Garden, in November 2016. McGregor was also served three orders of protection during his court appearance. Two of the protection orders relate to UFC fighters  - Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg - that were injured during the bus attack. McGregor will not be permitted near them until July 2020. Handily enough, McGregor has not been hit with any protective or restraining orders in relation to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was the target of the attack. Both Chiesa and Borg were forced to withdraw from the UFC 223 fight card after they were injured during the incident in the Barclays Center loading bay. Chiesa, a lightweight, sustained lacerations to his head while Borg, a flyweight, could not fight after glass fragments damaged his eyes. Ahead of his rescheduled UFC 226 fight against Anthony Pettis, Chiesa told reporters:

"I have no comment on that... but he fucked me out of a title shot. I'll tell you that much." "No, I haven't heard from him. So, fuck him."

Chiesa believes he would have been in line to face Nurmagomedov for the lightweight belt - rather than Al Iaquinta - after Tony Ferguson [knee injury[ and Max Holloway [missed weight] both missed out. Borg, who last fought against Demetrious Johnson in October 2017, has not been back in the Octagon since the attack.
