Conor McGregor reveals the stories behind that photo with the massive sword and the Aldo confrontation

Conor McGregor is out in Phoenix doing media work ahead of UFC 183 and he has made some very interesting revelations

After his demolition of Dennis Siver at UFC Boston, McGregor infamously leaped out of the Octagon to stare down the featherweight belt holder and his next opponent, Jose Aldo. He finally broke his silence on the incident today.

It was just instinct. I knew he was floating around in the crowd. During fight week I got told of these little posters he was doing. Something stupid. So when the fight was done I saw him and jumped over that cage and I wanted to put that energy straight through his chest like a bolt of lightning. That was it. I was just going off my emotions.

Another odd story that followed his impressive bout in Boston was a photo he posted on Twitter in a Boston hotel room of himself brandishing a massive sword. The photo, along with it's caption "Freedom" left a lot of people scratching their heads. https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/558384219194679298 However, he also revealed to CBS radio the great story of how he came into possession of the deadly weapon.

I woke up one day and a woman from the hotel in Boston came up with a giant sword, literally. It had a McGregor crest. Anyway, I woke up one morning, knock on the door and it's a woman from the hotel with a big sword. Someone had dropped it with a letter. It was from a fellow McGregor saying, 'You inspire me and this is for you.' It was a claymore sword. It was basically the sword they fought with in the Scottish highlands back in the day when they were swinging that thing on a horse. I tell you what, it is a heavy sword. It's the real deal.

While this worked out well for the woman in this story, we wouldn't recommend sending a lethal weapon to your hero's hotel room. It might send the wrong message.
