Conor McGregor’s fine for bottle-throwing incident only half of what was initially reported

Conor McGregor's still getting fined for his antics at UFC 202's pre-fight presser, the fine's just not as much as everyone thought.

Bob Bennett of the Nevada State Athletic Commission has confirmed that the Notorious won't be getting slapped with a fine of $150,000 for his infamous water-fight with Nate Diaz and the Stockton native's entourage in Las Vegas. He told MMA Fighting that the initial figure of $150,000 was misinterpreted by the media and the actual sum of the fine is $75,000. The remaining $75,000 was determined to be the value of the public service announcement McGregor must do for the commission, and McGregor will only have to pay that figure with his time rather than his wallet. Bennett also confirmed that McGregor was must complete 50 hours of community service as part of his punishment. However, he expressed his disappointed over McGregor publicly claiming he never wanted to fight in the state again shortly after receiving his punishment.

"I understand that he's upset. I understand that he commands a phenomenal following and paydays and he's a world-renowned champ. I get that he's frustrated. $75,000 is a lot of money. But I think the remark is inappropriate. In fairness to Conor, and I say this with the utmost respect, I just don't think he understands how the system works when he's fined."

If McGregor doesn't cough up the $75,000 fine to the NSAC, it's possible the New York State Athletic Commission will not license him to fight his potential history-making lightweight title shot against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, although that's an unlikely outcome.
