After going 0-2 against the Brazilian and moving further away from undisputed champion Conor McGregor, many wondered whether bantamweight lay ahead for Edgar but he's revealed that he's not quite ready to abandon 145 lbs just yet, and he's dropped two names in the mix for his next Octagon outing.
"This division is full of great fights for me and I want to keep it moving," Edgar told Duane Finley of FloCombat. "I know Max Holloway is out there. Jeremy Stephens is out there and either of them would make sense. Just because I fell short in my last fight doesn't mean I'm letting up in the slightest in my push to become the featherweight champion.
"I've faced setbacks before and it's all about getting back to your feet and getting after it. Does it suck that I lost? Yeah it sure does, but there isn't a drop of quit in me. I don't know anything about that. What I do know about is coming back stronger and that's what I'm going to do."
Edgar also wants to get right back in there before the close of 2016 as he's insisted that he wants to compete at the UFC's landmark event in New York this November.
Hailing from Toms River, New Jersey, the former UFC lightweight champion wants to play a part in the promotion's return to New York, 21 years since its last show in the Big Apple.
"I really want to be on that card at Madison Square Garden," Edgar said. "Being from New Jersey I've always dreamed of fighting there and now with the UFC coming to town in November there's the chance to make that dream a reality. I think it would be awesome and I'm super down to scrap at that event."
