Jon Jones should be in the clear to fight at UFC 197 after judge hits him with new probation stipulations

Hopefully we're not jinxing it but UFC 197's main event should be safe.

There was some amount of uncertainty around Jon Jones' comeback bout after the former UFC light heavyweight champion received citations for yet another traffic infraction. Jones admitted on Monday's The MMA Hour that he had received five tickets after being pulled over for drag racing late last week in Albuquerque, New Mexico, thereby violating his probation. Video soon emerged of the incident with the police officer which saw Jones refer to the cop as "a fucking liar" and "a pig." But at Jones' hearing in New Mexico Second Judicial District Court on Thursday, Judge Michael E. Martinez came to the conclusion that Jones would leave with fresh stipulations added to his probation but turned down suggestions of a curfew for the 28-year-old fighter. The new probation provisions for Jones include compulsory anger management sessions as well as an additional 60 hours of community services. The pound-for-pound best fighter in the world will also be required to request permission from his probation officer before driving a motor vehicle and complete a driver improvement course. “Jon, if you do come back here, it won’t go well,” Judge Martinez said. Jones had been in custody since Tuesday for his latest legal skirmish but hopefully this is the end of such troubles for 'Bones' who will look to regain the title he never lost when he takes on Daniel Cormier on April 23.
