Jon Jones weighs in on potential Jose Aldo rematch with Conor McGregor

A precedent has been set, according to Bones.

Perhaps it is his closeness to recently crowned UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm but Jon Jones' mind is on rematches. The former light heavyweight champion believes the UFC must grant Jose Aldo a rematch with Conor McGregor following the Brazilian's crushing loss. Jones has pointed to the promotion granting Ronda Rousey an immediate rematch, after she was dethroned by Holm last month, as a precedent. He certainly has a point as Aldo was previously unbeaten in 10 years and had been the number one pound-for-pound fighter up until McGregor KO'd him on Saturday night. McGregor has recent history with Jones. When Bones was attempting to rehabilitate from his wild ways, and fight back to the UFC, the Dubliner reached out with words of support. Jones told Ariel Helwani, "Conor McGregor wrote to me, he said: 'Hey champ, you know that once a champ, always a champ and I believe you're going to come back from this strong.' Just writing me words of encouragement."
