Jose Aldo says he’ll never be friends with Conor McGregor

Jose Aldo had Conor McGregor on his mind speaking at the UFC 189 World tour media event in Dublin today.

The featherweight champion hinted that he was not a fan of McGregor's constant psychological torture on their 12-day world tour promoting UFC 189. The Brazilian confessed that McGregor's antics have meant that they are unlikely to be friendly after the bout, but admitted he holds no contempt for the Irish man,

"I think after the fight, he'll go his way, I'll go my way. I don't think we'll ever be friends, but it's a part of what we do. I'll just keep being the champion. He'll do his thing, I'll do my thing. There's no animosity or nothing."

Aldo also played down the moment where temperatures seemed to reach boiling point between him and the Notorious. Aldo squared up to McGregor on the set of a Canadian chat show, after he appeared to be enraged when McGregor touched his neck. However, Aldo claims he kept his cool during the incident.

"There wasn't anything aggression, he just touched me. I didn't even know. My back was turned. He just grabbed me just slightly. My reaction was to just turn around to see what was happening,  but it was no big deal."

McGregor has constantly been trash-talking the champion since the fight was booked. He famously alluded to Aldo being a boring champion who relies on decisions. Out of his seven UFC fights, he has gone to the judges five times. However, Aldo reckons that this is just more smack talk from McGrgor and that he will remain the UFC belt-holder after UFC 189.

"I don't really pay attention to that. Just like Georges St-Pierre has gone to many decsions, people idolise him. All I care about is being the champion, it doesn't matter whether it's by knockout, submission or decision."
