Max Holloway on McGregor rematch: “I believe I can beat him”

Max Holloway wants another shot at The Notorious and we can't say we blame him.

Conor McGregor is the biggest draw in the UFC and Max Holloway has done something to him that nobody else has been able to do - he went the distance with the Dubliner. Holloway was McGregor's second opponent in the UFC and, after tearing his ACL early on, McGregor opted to employ a more grappling-oriented gameplan that saw him grind out a unanimous decision. But Blessed is hopeful that there would be different results should he get his shot at the interim featherweight champion after McGregor's unification bout with Jose Aldo. "I can’t sit over here and say he (McGregor) is not the real deal," Holloway told MMAOddsbreaker. "He has been doing so much for the sport and doing awesome. At the end of the day, I want my rematch because I believe I can beat him. I believe I’m the best fighter in the world. That’s my belief and that’s what got me here. "I can’t wait to rematch that guy. I’m not saying that when we fight again, I’m going to win and this and that, I’m just saying that — everybody was saying the first fight was good, and I should be happy I went to a decision with him. That’s being happy in second place or being a loser. I don’t want to be a loser, I want to be a winner. I work too hard to not be one. "I want to rematch him and see how it goes. It should be great, The first fight was great, the second will be awesome. If UFC wants to talk numbers and there is big hype for McGregor vs. Holloway II, let’s see what happens." Holloway takes on Brazilian submission specialist Charles Oliveira at Sunday's UFC Saskatoon and, with a win, will have gone 7-0 since the McGregor fight which will put him firmly in the title picture at 145 lbs.
