Nate Diaz describes a possible Conor McGregor-GSP fight as a ‘freakshow’

Nate Diaz feels the UFC should really have taken note of why people love the unpredictability of sport, and not tried to set up a Conor McGregor-George St-Pierre fight before UFC 196 was even over. The legendary Canadian fighter is expected to come out of retirement in 2016, and having taken a seat ringside in Las Vegas earlier this month for the Nate-Diaz-McGregor fight, everything was set up for a mic-drop moment between the Irishman and the MMA legend. Nate Diaz, however, lobbed a fairly impressive wrench into those plans with his second round submission of the 27-year-old Irishman. It was suggested that McGregor-GSP would be the key fight of a UFC 200 card, but it now more looks like a Diaz-McGregor rematch will headline the star-studded event. Diaz, speaking to Chael Sonnen, thinks the UFC messed up by not paying him enough respect and making GSP look foolish in the process.

"F**k that, I put a big 'uh-haw' on that shit, what do you guys think I'm just some game to be played with. I've been in this game too long to be f**ked with. They had GSP-McGregor bullshit. I don't want to even hear that. GSP is gong to come out of retirement to fight this little ass Conor McGregor, this is all a freakshow now."

Diaz and McGregor's expected rematch could be announced later this week, with the July showdown believed to be already agreed between both men. Diaz is delighted he upset the UFC's plans for their key summer event,  while GSP previously stated that he would have been shocked if McGregor, after an anticipated win, would have called him out at UFC 196.

"He thought he was going to make this big comeback, but I'm just thinking I came here and spoiled your shit and spoiled everyone's day."
