Nate Diaz wasn’t supposed to be at Conor McGregor’s history-making victory, but he found a way

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Another year, another special edition of the MMA Hour with the incomparable Nate Diaz. Just like the first installment in 2016, the Stockton native didn't disappoint as he weaved expletive-laden, anecdotal gold with his Midas tongue. In a memorable 90 plus minute chat, Diaz had some strong words to say about Tony Ferguson, Jose Aldo, Eddie Alvarez and, of course, his fierce rival, Conor McGregor. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/860146247507824640 One of the highlights in a talk comprised of highlights was Diaz explaining how he and his brother ended up at UFC 205, despite not having a ticket between them. The sons of Stockton managed to sneak inside Madison Square Garden to see McGregor brutally knocking out Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter in the promotion's history to hold two belts simultaneously.

“They didn’t give us tickets. I snuck in that motherfucker. Some dude that works security that saw us trying to get in, we were just trying to buy tickets … I text fucking Dana like, ‘What’s up?’ and he was like, ‘Man, we’re sold out.’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t give a fuck, I don’t want a ticket. Grab me at the front door and walk my ass in.’ Fuck you talking about, I don’t have tickets, I’m sorry. … That’s crazy.”

After his sneaky text to UFC president Dana White proved fruitless, the Diaz brothers were forced to innovate to gain entry. And by innovate, we mean be lucky enough to find a couple of people willing to bend the rules.

“I went to the top and there was some, like, booth up there. It was just me and my brother. We got in kind of crazy - one guy snuck me in one way and another guy snuck my brother in another way. That’s crazy. I just wanted to go to the event. I was like, I swear I won’t make a ruckus.”

And no ruckus was made, he is a man of his word.
