SBG duo James Gallagher and Sinead Kavanagh receive opponents for Belfast’s Bellator showdown

James Gallagher and Sinead Kavanagh both have unbeaten records to protect when they step foot in the Bellator cage next month.

The pair of undefeated SBG fighters are set for their next outings under the Bellator banner when the promotion returns to these shores on February 24 and, as of today, both have opponents. Gallagher, the 20-year-old prospect on whom Bellator reportedly splashed out last year, will see the realisation of his cancelled scrap with Kirill Medvedovsky (7-3) in the co-main event of the card which will take place at the SSE Arena in Belfast. 'The Strabanimal' last fought in December, when he claimed his fifth consecutive victory with a third round submission over Anthony Taylor after dominating the American for the duration of their featherweight meeting. Gallagher was originally supposed to meet Medvedovsky on Bellator's first ever Israeli card last November but that fell by the wayside once the promotion announced an event in Dublin, the card on which Gallagher ultimately performed. Gallagher's stablemate Kavanagh, meanwhile, is set to collide with French fighter Iony Razafiarison (1-1) at a catchweight of 140lbs in what will be her second bout in the Bellator cage. Kavanagh was nothing but dominant on the feet at Bellator 169 in Dublin and, despite the fact that she failed to live up to her 'KO' nickname, her unanimous decision victory over Elina Kallionidou was wholly comprehensive. Elsewhere on the Bellator/BAMMA joint venture, the second of its kind, we'll see a huge opportunity for SBG's Chris Fields who has been tasked with facing former Bellator light heavyweight champion Liam McGeary in the evening's curtain-closer. The BAMMA headliner is also expected to bring fireworks as The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes winner Norman Parke will clash with fellow former UFC star Paul Redmond at 155lbs.
