Toe to the eye results in career-best victory for Megan Anderson

Megan Anderson has her first UFC victory under her belt.

After suffering a decision defeat to former bantamweight champion Holly Holm in her first UFC outing in the summer, Anderson rebounded on Saturday night to stop a true veteran of the sport. The featherweight bout lasted no longer than a minute and ended in anti-climatic fashion when Anderson forced the finish with a slicing toenail to the eye of former 135lbs title challenger, Cat Zingano. While Zingano refused to drop, she did jog away from the action in a fashion which suggested that she had had enough and Anderson chased her down to finish the job. "I was just doing my job," Anderson said. "She looked away and didn’t answer what he was saying and he finally stopped it."

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Zingano, meanwhile, as she has now suffered four defeats in her last five fights and at the age of 36, she may start considering retirement.
