UFC champ Jon Jones has entered a drug facility after testing positive for cocaine

Shocking news coming out of the MMA world tonight

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones announced he has entered a drug treatment facility, just a few days after his career-defining victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 182. Jones failed a random drug test given to him on December 4 by the Nevada Athletic Commission. The UFC superstar tested positive for benzoylecgonine, which is the main metabolite in cocaine. The substance is not banned ou of competition and therefore the commission were unable to penalise the champ or force him from competing in the sport. This news comes after his dominant decision victory over Cormier on Saturday night, which some argued solidified his position as the greatest fighter in the history of the sport.

Jones released a statement through his attorney confirming the news to Yahoo.

With the support of my family, I have entered into a drug treatment facility. I want to apologize to my fiancée, my children, as well as my mother, father, and brothers for the mistake that I made. I also want to apologize to the UFC, my coaches, my sponsors and equally important to my fans. I am taking this treatment program very seriously. Therefore, at this time my family and I would appreciate privacy.
