He is currently the top prospect in the featherweight division and has made a huge splash since making his promotional debut last year. Each of his three UFC fights have brought bonuses and one would suspect he came away with another last night after pulling off one of the craziest submissions seen inside the Octagon.
Zabit was facing a late replacement in Brandon Davis who stepped in on short notice when Yair Rodriquez pulled out of the fight with an injury.
The Dagestan fighter started the fight cautiously in the opening round before unleashing in round two connecting with some nice knee shots before a beautiful trip got Davis to the canvass.
It was then that the Mark Hunt trained fighter began to do work, toying with Davis before locking in a quite frankly ridiculous kneebar to close out the fight.
The submission marks only the third time that it has been successfully used inside the Octagon, and ironically enough the second successful attempt happened earlier in the night when Aljamain Sterling locked in one to defeat Cody Stamann.
For the man that many consider the biggest prospect in the UFC, his star continues to rise with a few big name fights sure to come his way soon.
After the fight he stated he still wants to fight Yair Rodriquez, but also called out Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo.
The Russian is firmly on his way to getting to fight some of those big name fighters and you would think a featherweight title shot is right around the corner.
