There are few techniques more devastating than the smothering pressure of a wrestler's ground and pound in the sport of mixed martial arts.

Randy Couture, Cain Velasquez, Georges St-Pierre - the list is endless. When you have a strong grappler on top of you raining down punches and elbows, there's pretty much nothing you can do except pray for the referee to step in. But there's more to the technique than simply winging wild punches in the hope of catching an opponent. There's a systematic approach to getting the best out of your ground and pound. Firas Zahabi is the head coach at Montreal's Tristar Gym and is known for training world-class mixed martial artists such as Georges St-Pierre, Rory MacDonald and Ireland's own Joseph Duffy. So there's not a whole lot of men more qualified than Zahabi to speak about any MMA technique.
