Cardiff hotels are really cashing in on Irish fans with this huge price rise

Irish rugby fans have made a habit of taking over the cities that they've visited recently, London and Cardiff were awash with a sea of emerald green during the Rugby World Cup group matches. As any supporters will know, it's not exactly cheap to follow your team on the road with match tickets, travel expenses and accommodation... and that's even before you've started on the ale. While a price increase is to be expected in any city that's hosting a sporting event, the Trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI) for October 2015 has noted a startling increase in the cost of a hotel room in Cardiff on the eve of Ireland's quarter-final with Argentina. According to their figures, prices have soared by 960% in the Welsh capital for this weekend’s match. The website also discovered that the average cost of staying in a hotel on Saturday 17 October, the night before Ireland’s clash with Argentina, will cost you a whopping £1,232 (€1663 pprox). No wonder so many people are happy to sleep in hostels, trains or the boat.
