This caused some controversy. The Brumbies hammered the Stormers 39-19 in the Super Rugby quarter-final on Saturday and although coach Stephen Larkham will be delighted to advance to the final four, the red card shown to rampaging wing Henry Speight will annoy him. With the Australian side leading by 15 points in the closing stages, Speight was sent off for this wild challenge. He protested passionately but it wasn't enough to convince the referee. The Brumbies are contesting the dismissal ahead of their semi-final away to the top-seeded Hurricanes in Wellington this weekend. In the other semi-final, Michael Cheika will continue his quest for back-to-back Super Rugby titles as his Waratahs side host the in-form Highlanders of Dunedin. The games are on early on Saturday morning, but with four teams capable of producing breathtaking rugby involved, it is definitely worth going to bed early on Friday.
